The basic idea behind our latest development is to provide younger children with a more interesting form of fencing training than just legwork and weapon practice. Free fencing without safety equipment is very dangerous and irresponsible, so we have developed new fencing bibs that are pressure sensitive and transfer the hit via a cable to a signal box. This signal box is battery operated and indicates the hit using LEDs. The signal box is fastened to the mask. It is therefore possible to fence with any weapon, whether it is a manual foil, plastic weapon or "wooden stick", the hit is directly transferred and displayed. Our system is stand-alone; this means that there is no need for a signalling unit, cable reels or other expensive electrical equipment.
